# Basics Explained

### Friend Tech: 

friend.tech is a social app that allows users to buy & sell keys of individuals on their platform. It’s like owning a piece of someone’s digital presence, much like stocks in the real world. Friend Tech has already attracted thousands of individual traders since its Aug. 10 launch and has facilitated millions in volume.

### Base chain: 

Base is a L2 Blockchain created by Coinbase using Optimism’s OP stack. It is EVM-compatible chain which uses ETH as gas token. You can participate in Base chain by holding ETH in EVM compatible wallets such as Metamask and Rabby wallet.
